Thanks, Captain Obvious

I really don't understand how Jack Layton announcing how he will not support the Prime Minister is news. Layton has made a big deal about always doing that, even if that has meant he doesn't always read the legislation first.

Emphasis from the example...
"Prior to Tuesday's announcement, both Duceppe and Layton indicated that they would oppose the budget, no matter what it contained." ~January 27, 2009

Still, I can't fault the guy and the (New) New Democrats for at least being somewhat consistent unlike some others I know of...

Was there any doubt that Jack would find fault - I had no illusions that Jack would lead his pack of Dippers down a lonely path. Cheers, Fern StAlbert

Mini Marx is just being the nasty little Marxist that he is. Of course he's opposed to the Conservatives, it's what Mini Marx does.

Jack Layton opposing the Conservatives just means that the Conservatives are on the right track.

Keep up the great work Harper. (thumbs up)

Jack Layton is an obnoxious little man who throws himself in front of the media, keen for coverage on any and all of his views. But just because he's a media hound does not make his opinions newsworthy...we've been hearing his refusal to support anything the Conservatives do for years now. Time to pick a new angle, or even better, a new story.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with Layton's policy preferences, at least he's attempting to obtain a compromise and therefore consensus in the house. He's playing the role of a third party leader well - bartering support for policy changes. That's how things should be done in minority governments, and it's something few other party leaders seem interested in doing.

Say what you will about Layton, at least he's consistent.
